NOTICE OF WATER MAIN FLUSHING

On January 18, 2023, from 8am – 4 pm, Jefferson County Sewer District will be preforming water main flushing in preparation for the new Summerset well to begin service.

The process of periodic water main flushing is an important preventative maintenance activity. This allows JCPSD to test the flow and operations. Flushing provides the means to clean and refresh the entire water distribution system. By discharging a large volume of water, water flow within the pipeline is increased. The increased flow will scour the inside of the pipeline, removing and transporting silt and mineral deposits out of the water system.

These procedures are necessary to maintain the integrity of the water system. During the flushing process, it is common to stir up mineral deposits and for the water to appear yellow or discolored. These deposits, although unpleasant to look at, are harmless.

If you encounter discolored water following routine flushing, run the cold water tap until the water runs clear. This allows the discolored water to clear its way out of your household pluming system. If the problem persists beyond 24 hours, please contact JCPSD M-F at 636-797-9900 from the hours of 8am to 4:30pm
